The Hotel Playa Carmen is a fantastic brand new hotel situated right next to the beach at Playa Carmen and located next to Mal Pais on the Nicoya Peninsula. Being only eight months old, it has been described as “The Best Hotel in Mal Pais and Santa Teresa”. The beaches situated next to the hotel are one of its main attractions known for their light sands, warm waters, paradise landscapes, surfers and calm essence. As Costa Rica isn’t very big it is very easy to access all the beaches along the 700 miles coast. As a guest you have a choice of beaches to visit nearby, such as the Mal Pais, Santa Teresa and Playa Carmen.
The hotel contains 28 rooms, all of which cater to each guest’s individual needs. They provide Standard and Deluxe. The rooms are fully furnished, each provided with a phone, flat screen TV and DVD player, air conditioning, coffee makers, mini bar, a safe deposit box and many more facilities. Some of the rooms are provided with balconies overlooking the Pacific Ocean and the rich vegetation of the tropical forest. They pride themselves on the comfort and quality of our rooms and making guests feel warm and welcome. The rooms are newly decorated and designed in soft pastel colors, and laid down with warm colored Italian floor tiles. All the rooms have been decorated to a high standard and with a modern finish.
The hotel boasts many facilities such as free breakfast every morning and internet access, bar, swimming pool and Jacuzzi, spa, DVD rental service and a tourist information center.
The hotel restaurant, Las Olas, specializes in seafood, where you and your family can experience international and local foods such as European and Asian items. Las Olas means The Waves in Spanish and it’s an Italian restaurant of fine cuisine. Their chefs have a reputation for stimulating all the senses.
If you feel up for a bit of gambling then you’ll love the two Texas Hold’em poker tables that are available from 9 pm onwards with reservation every Wednesday and Saturday. If that’s not enough, you could be dancing to the live music and DJs twice a week. The Restaurant is open from 5:30 pm to 10:30 p.m. and The Snack Bar is open from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The waves are warm and consistent all year round. Trained instructors are readily available throughout the region, if you want to practice surfing or you are a beginner. They teach surfing at all levels. The best climate is April to December when the waves are biggest, especially if you go to the southeast of Playa Carmen. There are even international surfing competitions that take place on the beaches and surf camps to meet other surfers and gain some useful tips. There are also plenty of shops nearby to rent surf boards.
The nearest international airport is Juan Santamaria in Alajuelawhere can you arrange to rent a car when you arrive. It takes approximately 4 to 6 hours to drive from the Juan Santamaria International Airport to Hotel Playa Carmen. There is also an airport for internal flights around Costa Rica at Tambor airport.
